Our classroom’s layout has been restructured to ensure the greatest distance allowable. We have also implemented individual desks & supplies per student! Any/All items that cannot be disinfected, have been removed from our classrooms.

We have an incredible faculty composed of mentors who are dedicated to the best possible child development. From our Director to all the staff, all people involved in the academy have one shared goal: to nurture and guide. High-quality early education can help a child develop into a bright, well-mannered, and talented individual.

Simfran Academy (SFA) is not just your ordinary preschool! We pride ourselves in identifying as an early childhood educational institution for the Gifted & Talented. Simfran Academy takes a whole-child approach to early childhood education.
Our program model is reflective of the theories and approaches of our great founders of early childhood education, Friedrich Froebel, John Dewey, Maria Montessori, Lev Vygotsky, Jean Piaget. Teachers, administrators, counselors, and support staff work together to meet the intellectual, social, behavioral, and emotional needs of each and every child we serve.

We at Simfran Academy (SFA) believe that education is the fundamental pathway to success for all children. Our goals are to enhance the development of each student through our personalized lesson plans, developmentally appropriate learning materials, in an enriched learning environment; promote family involvement through program activities and encourage the development of creativity through the arts.

Our staff members are selected based on their educational background, creativity, love and respect for children. Their goals are to provide each student with learning experiences that support their natural desire to learn and explore; to develop positive relationships with the families of each student in order to efficiently and effectively meet the developmental needs of each student.

What we're learning...
Our curriculum is built on a strong multicultural foundation and reflective of the rights of each child. It lays the foundation and skills necessary for a successful start in a child’s early years of formal education. The students will be engaged in structured and child-directed educational activities with the opportunity to also learn in a variety of ways.
Our intent is not to only enhance the students’ cognitive development but, their social, language, emotional and physical development as well. In addition, helping to build a child’s self-esteem is a part of our curricula goal. We are aware that children begin to learn about themselves at a young age and look to adults to learn about who they are. Our goal is to also enhance our students’ self-awareness and sense of worth; while introducing and/or extending their knowledge of the diverse cultures within their community.

“They actually care about the babies. They actually teach them. It is not just a babysitting service. Having a son who has a developmental delay in speech, it was very hard for me to switch him from his old school, but he needed a change. Within the 1st year of him being with Ms. Simon and Ms Althea, he started to try and talk more, was potty trained, was writing and reading way better than before. He began to try and interact with his peers more. He had “friends”, which he never had the desire to have before.
All around my son matured drastically in his 2.5 years at Simfran. I cried and had many anxiety attacks when I had to enroll him in public school. For the whole 1st month, he continued to ask me if his friends were still his friends since he wasn’t at Simfran. He loves this school and everyone there and that made me love them even more.

“Ms Simon is the best hands down! I wish she was able to teach 1st – 5th grade. Prior to meeting Ms Simon I was searching for a school that actually educated children and not one where the kids played all day. My son attended this school at an early age, When he graduated from Kindergarten he was above his grade level and was offered a scholarship to attend a private school. Mrs. Latoya Simon is recognized for her outstanding accomplishments in the field of early childhood education. Her passion and commitment in the field of early childhood education is evident throughout her career.
Ms. Simon began her career at New York City Department of Education nearly 2 decades ago, and has since earned her Master of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from Brooklyn College and her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Long Island University.
In addition, she has obtained New York State Early Childhood Education Teacher Certification, New York State Childhood Teacher Certification, and New York State School Attendance Teacher Certification. Ms. Simon is also a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
